The new Furutech DPS-4.1 (11 AWG), power cable is Furutech's newest, top of the line bulk power cable, issued as a 'limited edition' design. The DPS-4.1 is Furutech's ultimate bulk cable design, constructed using a combination of DUCC Ultra Crystallized High Purity Copper and Furutech’s own (Alpha) OCC conductors. The DUCC Ultra Crystallized High Purity Copper used in the Furutech DPS-4.1 is supplied and regulated with strict quality control by Mitsubishi Materials Industries, and is amongst the finest conductors Furutech has found for audio signal transmission. M.M.I. is a leading manufacturer of the highest-purity oxygen-free copper in the world, and processes extremely pure oxygen-free copper with new technology that optimally aligns the crystal structure, while simultaneously reducing the number of crystal-grain boundaries. The result is a tremendously efficient, and musical conductor used in the DPS-4.1.
Typical OCC copper benefits are its larger “fibrous” crystals in which one dimension is longer than the other two, which creates as few crystal junctions as possible. This may explain OCC sensitivity to directionality- one path may exhibit slightly less resistance.
Furutech’s own Pure Transmission OCC is the result of further processing with their Alpha Super Cryogenic and Demagnetizing treatment. However, DUCC purity goes a significant step further: Mitsubishi Materials designed the new DUCC conductor to optimally align the copper's crystal grain structure in addition to reducing crystal grain boundaries. The result, is the DUCC material is less sensitive to directionality than OCC.
The Furutech DPS-4.1 is quite flexible for a cable, for it's girth, and well suited for audiophile components that require a flexible cable.
