The Pulsar Ag is a groundbreaking new interconnect design for 75 ohm SPDIF digital connections, as well as shielded analog interconnect applications. The Pulsar Ag interconnect utilizes a single (unplated) high-purity, solid OCC Silver conductor of 24 AWG. The high-purity Silver conductor is produced by the Ohno Continuous Casting process, resulting in a single crystal structure, with none of the typical grain boundaries found with conventional processing methods. Next, the Pulsar Ag central conductor is annealed to a dead-soft state, in an inert nitrogen atmosphere, before the AirLok dielectric is applied. VH Audio's AirLok™ insulation is a proprietary form of foamed/cellular Fluoropolymer that achieves a dielectric constant of less than 1.45! By comparison, the dielectric constant of solid fluoropolymers, such as DuPont™ PTFE, FEP, and, PFA (referred to as Teflon®, when licensed from DuPont) is 2.1. A perfect vacuum is 1.0. The AirLok™ insulation method is very difficult to implement, and has taken several years to perfect. May be stripped by simply using your fingernails- so no nicking of the conductor with a wire stripper!The superior electrical properties of the AirLok dielectric manifests itself as a fast, coherent and unsmeared signal, free of the artifacts created by absorption and delayed release of the signal back into the electrical field. The meticulous way in which VH Audio has perfected the application of the AirLok dielectric onto the core OCC silver wire results in the ultra-tight tolerance needed to achieve a consistent 75 ohm impedance- the ideal impedance for SPDIF digital connections. The double-shielded design of the Pulsar Ag Interconnect consists of foil and an OFHC silver-plated copper braid, to provide maximum RFI rejection and a low impedance path to ground (helping to minimize ground loops). Lastly, the Pulsar Ag cable has a thin jacket of FEP insulation, in order to provide maximum flexibility, durability, and electrical characteristics.
